Thank you for visiting my web site.  My name is Gerry, and as founder and operator of MFT I have established this business as a community resource for the pursuit of general health and wellness.  For the past thirty years I have engaged in regular resistance and cardio vascular exercise; and in recent years, martial arts practice.  I have been an active member of more than a dozen commercial gyms – big and small.  I have also been a voluminous reader of health and fitness literature and the body building media.  Over the years I have experimented with numerous training protocols – and found some value in most of them!  I have also adopted different nutritional schemes (a topic far too vast for any web site home page) along the way before settling on my current regime.  Recently I have completed my fitness training certification program with the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA), and I look forward to bringing personal training advice and guidance to the Princeton/Lawrenceville area starting in the summer of 2019.

There is a wide belief in the fitness industry that almost anyone seeking a healthier life can benefit from the help of a qualified personal trainer; I agree.  That said, MFT is a small business, and like any other, it has a particular niche in mind.  On the Services page I go into some detail regarding my training philosophy and the clients I will serve.  As a preface here, I will be aiming to provide one-on-one training to local residents in the age range of thirty five to sixty five years.  Why ignore people outside that age group?  I won’t … however, the personal training experience has some unique qualities to be considered.  From my age perspective (I can now clearly spot my AARP enrollment card winking at me from just beyond the horizon) I argue that young adult clients (not to mention adolescents) are best served by personal trainers closely linked to them in age and experience.  Conversely, middle-aged clients will enjoy a higher comfort level speaking intimately about their health and fitness experience and goals with a trainer who is a contemporary; who shares their generational history.  I love seniors (most of my family members are well into the golden years), and hope to train them.  Albeit, many older Americans present with significant and advanced medical conditions.  There is a growing inclination among practitioners to focus on one specialized group or another, and those personal trainers who serve the senior client niche (that word again) are well (better) positioned to provide value to that group than I am.  (I do not, incidentally, view other PTs as competitors; rather as comrades in the same cause).  These are my reasons for choosing my particular “sweet spot” and I will devote myself to offering dedicated service to everyone who is ready to seek it.

Thanks again for your interest in MFT; please see the Services page for a more detailed discussion of training philosophies and programs.
